What is CMS Checker?

CMS Checker is a free online tool that detects which content management system (CMS) powers any website. Simply enter a URL and get instant results showing whether the site runs on WordPress, 1C-Bitrix, Joomla, Drupal, OpenCart, MODX, Tilda, DataLife Engine, and 15 more platforms.

The detection engine analyzes HTTP headers, meta tags, cookie names, template paths, and admin endpoints to build a confidence score. Results are cached so repeated lookups are instant.

How does CMS detection work?

  1. The tool sends an HTTP request to the target website and examines response headers, HTML source code, cookies, and known admin paths.
  2. Each matching signal contributes to a confidence score. High-value signals like generator meta tags or distinctive cookies score higher than generic HTML markers.
  3. If the accumulated score exceeds the detection threshold, the CMS is identified and stored. Results are available instantly on repeated checks.
