Accenture acquired Downdetector and Speedtest for a sum exceeding one billion dollars.
Ziff Davis sells Connectivity division
The company Ziff Davis announced the sale of its *Connectivity* unit, which houses popular internet speed testing service Speedtest and site availability monitoring service Downdetector. The buyer is consulting group Accenture, and the deal value is $1.2 billion in cash.
What this means for Ziff Davis
According to a source, the sale will allow the company to focus on developing its key brands:
- IGN – the largest gaming portal;
- Mashable – a media platform about technology and entertainment;
- Everyday Health – a health service.
Recently, Ziff Davis has been actively reorganizing its publishing assets. A number of senior editors from *Eurogamer* and other staff were recently dismissed, after which their responsibilities were transferred to other group publications. As a result, *VG247* became a small site with gaming guides, now run by only two people.
Investment history
- 2014 Ziff Davis bought Ookla for $15 million.
- The *Connectivity* division leveraged the demand growth for 5G and the peak bandwidth needs during the pandemic, bringing the company almost $231 billion in profit in 2025.
What’s next
The new owner – Accenture (headquartered in Dublin) – views the acquisition as an important step toward creating “end‑to‑end network intelligence analytics services” needed for AI‑driven transformation.
The deal may close within a few months; until then, Speedtest and Downdetector will remain under Ziff Davis management.
