Adobe Firefly launches Quick Cut for accelerated video editing
A new tool called Quick Cut has appeared in Adobe Firefly’s video editor – an AI assistant that automatically selects and trims the necessary scenes, as well as adds extra footage (B‑roll) when creating a rough draft of the final clip.

The user simply describes the desired outcome in natural language: “I need a 30‑second commercial with dynamic transitions and smooth editing.” Quick Cut will remove excess, merge duplicates, and pick suitable B‑roll frames.

How to use
What can be set Where to enter Aspect ratio Input field in Firefly Transition speed Same block Additional footage (B‑roll) If you want to add manually
Quick Cut can be applied to:

- The entire project,
- A specific time range,
- Selected clips.

After generation, you can insert additional B‑roll frames and use one of Firefly’s ready-made video models to create short transitions.

What remains manual
Adobe stresses that Quick Cut only provides a rough draft. Editors will still need to:

- Refine elements,
- Stitch duplicates together,
- Work on transitions and final composition.

Mike Folger, head of video editing and AI development at Adobe, noted:

> “Our goal is to give content creators a quick solution for preliminary editing. It saves time and allows faster realization of creative vision.”

He added:

> “We know that routine tasks like sorting fragments aren’t inspiring. Quick Cut helps those who already have a media set quickly shape a storyline and produce a ready video.”

New prompt‑based features
Firefly now implements a prompt editing feature:

- The user can enter a simple description (e.g., “make the shot brighter”),
- AI models automatically adjust colors, camera angles, and other parameters.

Additionally, the timeline view simplifies setting frames, sounds, and other characteristics without extra effort.

Thus, Quick Cut becomes a powerful assistant for marketers, bloggers, and video editors, enabling a swift transition from sketch to working material.
