Amazon Game Studios and Glowmade announced the end of support for “King of Meat”

*Amazon Game Studios, in partnership with British studio Glowmade, developed the colorful cooperative action-platformer *King of Meat*. The game was released on October 7, 2025, for PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X/S and was slated for Nintendo Switch at the beginning of 2026, but its launch turned out to be “catastrophic.”*

What went wrong
- Low performance

According to Insider Gaming, Amazon’s leadership expected about 100,000 concurrent players. The peak online count on Steam was only 320.

- Lack of an audience

Despite Glowmade’s creative efforts and innovative mechanics, the game failed to find its target audience.

Amazon’s solutions
1. Termination of funding

Servers will be shut down on April 9; after that, project support will end.

2. Removal from sale

The game has been removed from all platforms (price – $30). The in‑game store is closed, and all buyers will receive a full refund within the coming weeks.

3. Official statement

“We sincerely thank everyone who supported *King of Meat* and the wonderful community around the game… We are grateful to Glowmade for the partnership and passion throughout this journey. Wishing them success,” announced Amazon.

Context
- In October, the company reduced staff after mass layoffs, stepping back from large projects and MMOs.

- By January, the closure date for the multiplayer role‑playing game *New World: Aeternum* had already been officially confirmed.

Thus, Amazon Game Studios is ending work on “King of Meat” due to low sales and a lack of a stable user base.
