AMD unveiled an updated version of FSR 4.1

The company AMD has included a new iteration of its artificial upscaling technology, FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) – FSR 4.1 – in the latest Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition driver 26.3.1.

This update adds support for Pearl Abyss’s Crimson Desert, which launched worldwide today. The PC version already implements FSR 3/4 and AMD’s FSR Ray Regeneration technology.

What changed in FSR 4.1?

According to AMD, the new version improves machine‑learning‑based scaling performance:

- image detail is enhanced;
- camera motion smoothness increases;
- efficiency in Ultra Performance Mode rises.

Supported GPUs

Official documentation states that FSR 4.1 is available only for Radeon RX 9000 series cards. Although rumors previously suggested possible support for older architectures, the latest driver does not confirm this.

Comment from Mark Cerny

Mark Cerny – lead architect of PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro – noted the release of FSR 4.1 on his X page. He emphasized that the technology uses the same neural network as the updated PSSR 2 upscaler for the PlayStation 5 Pro console. Sony had already announced this earlier in the week, and now the joint efforts of AMD and Sony make scaling even more accurate and efficient.
