AMD does not plan to add FSR 4.1 to integrated graphics

In May, AMD announced that the FSR 4.1 scaling technology would be available not only for Radeon RX 9000 GPUs but also for the new RX 7000 (RDNA 3) and RX 6000 (RDNA 2) lines. At that time the company did not mention support for FSR 4.1 in integrated graphics processors based on RDNA‑2, RDNA‑3 or RDNA‑3.5.

At Computex 2026, an AMD representative confirmed that there are no plans to include FSR 4.1 in iGPUs. This applies to all mobile solutions: Radeon 600M, 700M and 800M, which are part of many Ryzen APU laptops and portable gaming devices; as well as the more powerful Radeon 8050S/8060S from the Ryzen AI Max (Strix Halo) lineup, offering noticeably better performance than standard iGPUs.

According to an interview with Vice President of Radeon and Ryzen divisions David MacAfee

- AMD is not currently considering FSR 4.1 support for RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, including Radeon 890M, 880M, 860M and 840M chips in Ryzen AI 300/400 processors.

- The company is weighing the pros and cons, but the decision currently leans toward rejection.

What this means for portable gaming consoles

Many of these devices use Ryzen‑APU with Radeon‑iGPU. FSR 4.1 support on mobile graphics would be especially useful, but currently only FSR 3.1 and AMD Fluid Motion Frames software frame generator are available.

Comparison with Intel

Intel already supports AI scaling and multi-frame generation for integrated Core 100/200/300 graphics. The company recently introduced Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme processors specifically designed for portable gaming consoles, advertising XeSS 3 support on them.

Thus, until AMD plans to expand FSR 4.1 to integrated graphics solutions, mobile device users will be limited to older scaling versions.
