AMD missed the presentation of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 with dual 3D‑V‑Cache; the information appeared in an ASRock press release.
AMD expects the release of a new Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 – but there are no official confirmations yet
The company AMD had planned to unveil a new flagship processor, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, this week, featuring dual 3D V‑Cache memory chips. Information about the announcement dates and features came from an ASRock press release, which states that the official presentation is scheduled for March 16.
What enthusiasts expected
At CES 2026 in early January many fans predicted the arrival of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. Instead, AMD only showcased an 8‑core model, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, which differs from the standard Ryzen 7 9800X3D only by a higher maximum clock speed. Regarding the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, the company has neither confirmed nor denied the rumors – at CES an invitation was made to await official news.
How the March 16 date surfaced
The VideoCardz portal accidentally stumbled upon the ASRock press release posted on the manufacturer’s website. At the time of publication the release had already been removed, but a screenshot preserved the details: announcement date – March 16. The material went unnoticed for almost a week, raising questions.
Motherboard support
In the ASRock press release it is stated that their current AM5 models already support the new processor, but a BIOS update to version 4.03 will be required. Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not provide any technical specifications for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, and there is no such information on AMD’s website either.
Rumors about configuration
According to rumors, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 will feature:
- 16 cores (32 threads)
- Each CCD cluster with 8 cores equipped with an additional 3D V‑Cache memory chip
- Total cache – 192 MB
- Estimated TDP – 200 W
These details remain unconfirmed by AMD, so everything is still speculation.
In short:
AMD has not officially announced the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. Information about dates and specifications came from an ASRock press release, with no confirmation from the company itself. In the near future we should expect an official statement that will clarify whether the processor will indeed feature dual 3D V‑Cache and what its real parameters are.
