AMD plans to expand in the shrinking PC segment by focusing on high-budget processors
AMD is confident in PC revenue growth despite market decline
In a recent interview, AMD CEO Lisa Su highlighted the key drivers that delivered record revenue for the company last quarter and for 2025 overall. In addition to EPYC server processors, she singled out consumer Ryzen chips as an important growth factor.
> “We see an opportunity to strengthen our position in the personal computer market and increase focused revenue, even if fewer PCs are sold worldwide this year than last,” Su said.
Focus on the corporate segment
When discussing rising memory prices in the consumer segment, Su noted:
> “Our priorities lie specifically in the corporate market… and further growth in the premium segment.”
She acknowledges that the global PC market will likely shrink this year. Nevertheless, the company will continue to expand its business in this area.
> “Even if demand falls, we believe the PC market remains important. We expect a modest decline in sales volumes but will work to minimize the impact of rising memory prices.”
Strategy – focus on profitable niches
AMD plans to concentrate on the most lucrative personal computer segments that will not only boost revenue but also cushion the effects of higher memory costs.
Company representatives previously explained to Tom’s Hardware that this year’s PC business “will not suffer” from price increases. In the last quarter, consumer and gaming markets showed higher revenue growth dynamics, yet the bulk of income still comes from the corporate sector (including the server segment).
