Apple reports record sales of the iPhone 17, but its supply chain is facing challenges

Apple's Chief Financial Officer Kevin Parikh announced that the iPhone 17 lineup has become the company's most popular ever. Thanks to these smartphones, Apple reached new heights in Q2 2026 of the fiscal year, yet demand outstripped supply capabilities.

> “The iPhone 17 family became the most popular line in our history… We believe we increased market share by the end of the quarter,” said Parikh.

> Tim Cook confirmed the high demand: “Demand was overwhelming. There's just a bit less flexibility now in the supply chain to get additional components.”

Reasons for the slowdown in sales

The main barrier is the shortage of A19 and A19 Pro processors, which Apple sources from Taiwanese manufacturer TSMC. At the same time, TSMC is simultaneously producing chips for AI computing, limiting available capacity. Parikh noted that in Q1–Q2 2026 “memory had an increasingly significant impact” on financial results.

Issues with processor and memory supply could affect the future iPhone 18 lineup, which Apple plans to unveil in September. Among the new features will be the company's first foldable smartphone.
