Apple announces a new MacBook Pro update in 2026
Apple launches new MacBook Pro 14‑ and 16‑inch models
This week the company announced the release of updated versions of the MacBook Pro 14 and 16 with new M5 Pro/M5 Max chips and Liquid Retina XDR displays. The novelties are already available for pre‑order, and sales will begin on March 11.
Plans for further updates
Despite this, Apple is not abandoning plans to launch another major MacBook Pro update this year. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg in his Power On newsletter said that a “premium” MacBook with a touch OLED display is expected to be released around the end of the year.
- It will be Apple’s first laptop with an integrated touch OLED display.
- According to the expert, adding such a panel, as seen on the iPad and iPhone, will likely raise the model’s price by 15–20 %.
- Gurman suggested naming the new line “MacBook Ultra” to emphasize its top‑tier status.
Possible configuration
It is likely that the new MacBook Pro will be equipped with an M6 Pro/Max chip – the same processor used in recent updates. This will continue Apple’s tradition of releasing new models every 4–5 months:
- January 17, 2023 — MacBook Pro with M2 Pro/Max;
- October 30, 2023 — MacBook Pro with M3 Pro/Max (difference – 286 days).
If Apple decides to shorten the interval, the new laptop could appear as early as November, thereby “breaking” its own record for update frequency.
