Apple is boosting device autonomy by refining the code and UI in iOS 27
Apple is preparing significant updates for iOS 27
According to network sources, the company is working on improving its internal codebase and operating system interface. The plan is to remove “redundant” fragments of old code, refine Liquid‑Glass UI elements, and update outdated apps. These changes are expected to make it into iOS 27 and should increase device battery life.
Initially, media outlets reported that the new version would focus on performance and stability improvements. However, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman clarified that the update will be more extensive: Apple intends to eliminate “remnants” of old software code, enhance the Liquid‑Glass interface, and make older apps run better.
Over recent years users have noted an increase in bugs in applications, and sometimes a drop in performance and battery capacity. Software quality has always been considered one of Apple’s strengths, so any decline could disappoint users.
Gurman said: “The company expects that code optimization will improve efficiency, which in turn will enhance battery life. If real results are achieved, it is unclear whether this will be promoted as a distinct advantage or remain merely a side effect of code tidying.”
In addition, Apple is focusing on developing AI-based features for iOS 27. It is already known that the new version will bring an updated Siri with a more powerful AI model, and there are rumors about a chatbot for the voice assistant. Details will become clearer as the official release approaches, scheduled for June this year.
