Apple MacBooks could come with “holey” screens, Dynamic Island, and a new dynamic interface
Apple plans to add Dynamic Island to new MacBook Pro models with OLED displays
According to the latest data from Bloomberg analyst Mark Gorman, Apple expects to release MacBook Pro models equipped with touch-sensitive OLED display panels by fall. These laptops will feature a Dynamic Island cutout – a function already familiar to iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max users. However, in the case of the MacBook Pro, as Gorman notes, it will be “smaller” in size.
New variants and updated interface
The lineup will include 14‑inch and 16‑inch display models that will visually resemble current versions. Apple plans to change the user interface: it will become more “dynamic” and adapt to working with both a standard mouse and touch controls. According to Gorman, when a user touches a button or another element, a new menu will appear around the finger, containing up‑to‑date parameters for touch commands.
The company’s history with touch screens
Apple long refused to install touch screens on Mac computers. In October 2010, Steve Jobs stated that “touch surfaces should not be vertical” and that such screens on Macs would be “ergonomically awful.” Today the company positions the iPad as a touch‑screen device that can be used with a keyboard almost just like a Mac.
The future of touch laptops
In 2023, Mark Gorman said Apple is considering releasing a Mac computer with a touch screen. According to his estimate, such a product will not appear at the March 4 event but in the “near future” – by the end of 2026. In new iPhone 18 and 18 Pro Max models, the Dynamic Island cutout will also be more compact.
Thus Apple is preparing a series of MacBook Pro laptops with touch‑sensitive OLED displays and a dynamic interface that will be closer to what is already known on the iPhone.
