Capcom Responds to Leaks of “Resident Evil Requiem”

Recently, materials with critical spoilers for the new action‑horror Resident Evil Requiem circulated online. As a result, players were able to obtain early copies of the game ten days before its official release, after which social media was flooded with detailed descriptions of the plot, villains, character fates, and endings.

In response, the Japanese publisher and developer issued a public statement for the first time. In Capcom’s official microblog for the franchise, it was confirmed that there were open publications of pre‑release leaks and spoilers for “Requiem.”

Capcom urged users not to view or share gameplay videos containing spoilers. The company announced the start of an active campaign against such material:

> “Our legal department will continue to send requests for blocking and removal of leaks so you can preserve your experience of the game at its release,” the statement reads.

According to Capcom representatives, publishing gameplay videos before launch violates copyright and “ruins other players’ mood.” The publisher believes that creators of such videos obtained the game illegally.

Release date

“Resident Evil Requiem” will officially be released on February 27 on:

- PC (Steam, Epic Games Store)

- PlayStation 5

- Xbox Series X/S

- Nintendo Switch 2

Insider AestheticGamer (alias Dusk Golem) reported that the first reviews of the game will appear two days before the premiere.
