China relies on artificial intelligence for the employment of 12.7 million university graduates
India and China — new giants of demography
Recently India surpassed China, becoming the second most populous country in the world. At the same time Chinese authorities closely monitor how quickly its population grows, as this affects economic growth.
Chinese graduates and the employment challenge
This year 12.7 million students will graduate from Chinese universities. The government aims to secure jobs for at least some of them through artificial intelligence (AI).
Future plans from the Minister of Labor
At the All-China Congress of People's Representatives, head of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security Wang Xiaopin announced that AI would be used for:
* modernizing traditional professions;
* finding new employment channels;
* unlocking the potential of youth in various industries.
He noted that the labor market faces new risks and uncertainties. Therefore the government will launch large-scale internship and training programs to mitigate negative pressure on employment.
Priority development sectors
Special attention will be given to professional skills in rapidly developing industries:
* unmanned aerial vehicles;
* vehicles with alternative energy sources;
* artificial intelligence.
