How Diablo III Continues to Live On Despite New Releases
Despite Blizzard releasing *Diablo II: Resurrected* and *Diablo IV*, the head of the Diablo Legacy department, Matthew Sederkvist, assures that the audience for the original 2012 game remains alive and active. In a recent interview with Eurogamer he emphasized that millions of players are still playing *Diablo III*.

On the Size of the User Base
Sederkvist did not provide exact figures but noted that the “enormous” audience remains unchanged: even 14 years after its release, millions of fans continue to log in. He added that each part of the franchise has its own target audience. When *Diablo IV* launched, some fans moved to the new product, but with each season they return—just like players of *Diablo II*.

Why the Player Base Is Less Stable
Sederkvist compared this phenomenon to the more stable user base of *World of Warcraft*. According to lead designer Tim Vascosellos, WoW has “social pressure” that keeps players. In Diablo, players are freer: “that’s convenient these days when we have so many things to do.” He stressed that the audience has grown and now has less time for games, yet still seeks exactly what Diablo offers.

Plus to the Number of Fans – *Diablo II: Resurrected*
And it isn’t just *Diablo III* that is popular. *Diablo II: Resurrected* also gathered an audience in the millions. Recently a major add‑on, Reign of the Warlock, was added to the game, and it became available on Steam as well as Game Pass (Ultimate, Premium, PC).

Thus, despite new releases, the classic 2012 action‑RPG remains alive and in demand among millions of fans worldwide.
