Fans rejected the first frame of Amazon's new series – a cheap parody of YouTube
Amazon launches a new series — God of War
Since the announcement of the project by Amazon MGM Studios, based on the God of War video game series (Santa Monica Studio), fans are still waiting for exact premiere dates. However, the company last shared its first image of the main characters.
* Kratos
The legendary Spartan is played by well-known actor from “God of War Ragnarok” – Ryan Hurst.
* Atreus
The young hero will be voiced by up-and‑coming actor Callum Vinson.
According to the creators, the series relies on the plot of the original 2018 game. Kratos and Atreus embark on a perilous journey to scatter the ashes of the deceased wife from the top of the highest mountain.
First frame
In Amazon’s official microblog an image was posted: father and son are hunting. Atreus is drawing his bow, while Kratos watches him. The creators’ text reads:
> “Father and son. Get a first look at Kratos and Atreus in the series — their journey to the summit of the highest mountain begins.”
Fan reaction
Early fan reviews were not very positive. Many note that the characters look more like “cosplayers” than the original heroes:
> “Looks like a cheap YouTube parody,” comments user Psychological‑Row641 on Reddit.
Planned seasons
* Season 1 – adaptation of the first game’s events.
* Season 2 – continuation covering the plot of “God of War Ragnarok.”
The showrunner for the project is Ronald D. Moore, known for his work on Star Trek and Radiant Humanity.
