Figure AI demonstrates continuous operation of its humanoid robots
Figure AI announced that during testing three of its robots were able to work for more than 24 hours straight without human intervention. Initially an eight‑hour experiment was planned; however, after the first day passed without failures, the team decided to continue working until the end of the day.
What happened during the experiment
- Robots: Bob, Frank and Gary (nicknames assigned by viewers).
- Task: Sorting small parcels on conveyor belts.
- Technology: Using onboard cameras and the Helix‑02 AI algorithm, operating locally without remote control.
- Result: In 24 hours the robots processed more than 28 000 parcels at a speed comparable to that of humans.
How it worked
1. The robots automatically scan barcodes and move parcels onto the appropriate belts.
2. If an unforeseen situation arises, the AI can restart the system without human involvement.
3. If one robot temporarily goes out of service, another continues working so that the process does not stop.
Public reaction and company plans
During a live broadcast of the experiment viewers watched with interest as the robots worked, and the company noted that this is “unexplored territory” for autonomous operation. Bret Adcock, founder and CEO of Figure AI, emphasized: “We have crossed the 24‑hour mark without failures.”
Figure AI intends to bring its robots into serial production and is already negotiating with partners such as Tesla, Agility Robotics and Apptronik to deploy them in warehouses, factories and other industrial facilities.
