FromSoftware announced the exact release date for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 and paid DLC for other platforms
Bandai Namco + FromSoftware announced the release date for Elden Ring on Nintendo Switch 2
The publisher Bandai Namco and Japanese studio FromSoftware, without unnecessary ceremony, stated that the port of Elden Ring to Nintendo Switch 2 – Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition – will be available on August 28, 2026.
Why the date changed
Initially, the release of the port was planned for the end of 2025, but for additional performance optimization and stability improvements the game was postponed by a year. At Game Developers Conference 2026 it became clear: after the “catastrophe” at Gamescom 2025, Tarnished Edition became more reliable and visually impressive.
What’s included in Tarnished Edition
* The core game – Elden Ring (fully compatible with Switch 2).
* A large expansion – *Shadow of the Erdtree*.
* New content:
* Sets of armor and weapons, including the Lucteiel sword from Dark Souls 2.
* Appearance options for the phantom steed Flow (three alternative looks).
* New abilities and character classes: Knight of Ides and Heavy Knight.
Additional DLC
On the day of the Tarnished Edition release on all target platforms a paid DLC will appear, including additional content from the Switch 2 version.
Historical success of Elden Ring
* Released February 25, 2022: PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
* Recognized by critics and players – the main award at The Game Awards 2022.
* Sales exceeded 30 million copies worldwide.
Thus, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition promises a more stable game with expanded content and improved graphics for Nintendo Switch 2 owners.
