GeForce RTX 5090, one of the rarest cards, appeared on eBay with prices ranging from $7,000 to $15,000
MSI presents the exclusive RTX 5090 Lightning Z graphics card
Recently MSI released the flagship GeForce RTX 5090 Lightning Z model, but in a very limited quantity—only 1,300 units. Each of them was priced at $5,090.99. Already several cards have appeared on eBay, where their price exceeds the recommended price threefold.
Who buys? – Resellers
The exclusivity attracted arbitrage sellers: some graphics cards ended up in circulation at prices significantly higher than the original. On eBay they are offered in a range from $7,785 to almost $15,000 (excluding taxes and shipping).
Comparison with the market
VideoCardz notes that such prices are hard to justify even considering the rarity of the card. In the United Kingdom the RTX 5090 Lightning Z is still sold in some stores for £4,999 (≈$6,827 at the current exchange rate), which is cheaper than the “available” options on eBay.
Brief specification
MSI positions the RTX 5090 Lightning Z as an uncompromising solution. Of the 1,300 units released, about 100–200 were given to reviewers and influencers, and in the United States and Taiwan it could only be purchased through a lottery for purchase rights.
According to VideoCardz, the lowest price of standard RTX 5090s is currently around $3,500. Unlike the standard version, Lightning Z is equipped with an SZO system, an 8‑inch display, and the ability to choose TDP modes of 800 W/1,000 W. For extreme overclocking a separate XOC BIOS for 2,500 W is available, but installing it voids the warranty.
