Google expands options for removing personal information from search results

The new feature lets users control what appears about them in Google search results. In addition to existing options for deleting email addresses and phone numbers, you can now remove:

- identity card data
- driver’s license details
- social security number

All actions are performed from the “About You” section that appears below the main search result.

How the removal process works
1. Filling in fields – in the “About You” section the user specifies exactly which information they want to delete. Without filling out the fields, the system cannot confirm that it is their own data and will not delete someone else’s information.

2. Google verification – after entering the information, the search engine scans the results and identifies all matches.

3. Notification – the user receives an email or a message in the Google app (depending on settings) indicating where the deletable data is located.

4. Deletion – based on the received list, the user deletes the required items directly from the search results.

What’s important to remember
- Deleted information disappears only from Google’s results; it remains available on the original sites and can be found through other search engines, local site searches, or bots.

- Google uses modern security protocols and encryption to protect data that users provide during the deletion process.

Removing explicit images
Google has simplified the process for removing unwanted photos:

1. Open the menu next to the desired image → “remove result.”

2. Select “The image shows my sexual photo.”

3. You can submit a removal request for multiple pictures at once.

4. The status of all requests can be tracked in the same “About You” section.

An additional preview filtering feature is available: by enabling protection, Google automatically blocks new explicit results from appearing on similar search queries.

After submitting a request, the system shows links to organizations that can offer emotional and legal support.

Launch plans
In the coming days, Google will begin rolling out these tools in the United States. After successful implementation, they will become available in other regions of the world.
