New Gemini Features on Android – What Will Change

Google unveiled an expanded set of Gemini AI features at a recent Android-focused presentation. The AI will now work not only with a limited number of apps but also manage a broader range of services, generate UI elements, and automatically fill out forms—though only on the most powerful smartphones.

What’s Already Available
* Pixel models and Samsung Galaxy S26 – Gemini can already help order taxis or food.
* In the near future Google plans to expand the list of supported apps so that new capabilities become available on more devices.

Multimodality
At present, Gemini is controlled via text and voice. In the future it will accept commands in the form of screenshots and photos: for example, sending a photo of a shopping list from Notes, the user will get those items added to their cart (provided Gemini is supported on the device).

Widget Creation
The Create My Widget feature is the first step toward “generative user interface.”

* The user enters a textual description, and the AI generates a home‑screen widget.
* Examples: a weather widget showing wind and precipitation, a high‑protein recipe panel.
* Created widgets can appear not only on the phone but also on Wear OS watches.

Details of the concept are planned to be discussed at Google I/O.

Gemini in Chrome
The mobile browser now includes features from desktop Gemini:

1. The Gemini button sends the current page’s content to the AI and lets you ask questions directly in the browser.
2. For subscribers to Google AI Pro/Ultra (available from June), automatic search‑and‑execute tasks will be available, such as booking an appointment.

Form Autofill
Gemini can now automatically fill out forms: through Personal Intelligence it learns data from Google Photos and Gmail, inserting the necessary details (e.g., a car number).

Google promised that all these features will be gradually rolled out over the course of the year.
