Google Unveils Nano Banana 2 – a New Image Generation Model

Google announced the release of the latest version of its popular image creation model, named Nano Banana 2. Technically it is equivalent to Gemini 3.1 Flash Image and promises more realistic results compared with the previous version.

Nano Banana 2 retains the high detail of the Pro model while generating images significantly faster. Users can submit complex prompts with many nuances and receive content with “bright lighting,” rich textures, and crisp details.

Where the Model Will Be Available
* Image generation in the Gemini app – Nano Banana 2 will become the default mode across all three tiers: Fast, Thinking, and Pro.

* Video editing tool Flow – also uses this model as its base.

* Google Lens and AI search in Google Search (mobile and web versions) – 141 countries will become the “home” for Nano Banana 2.

* Paid subscriptions Google AI Pro and Ultra will retain access to Nano Banana Pro via a separate menu item.

The model will be available in preview mode:

- Via Gemini API

- In Gemini CLI

- Vertex API

- AI Studio

- Antigravity tool (released November 2024)

Security and Identification
All images created by Nano Banana 2 are automatically watermarked with SynthID – the proprietary marker for AI‑generated content. They are also compatible with the C2PA Content Credentials system, which verifies provenance and immutability of the material. Support is implemented by Adobe, Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, and Meta✴.

Since the launch of SynthID verification in Gemini (November 2025), the model has already been used more than 20 million times.

Thus, Nano Banana 2 combines speed, detail, and wide integration across all Google services while ensuring transparency and security for the content it creates.
