Google announced a new line of laptops – Google Book

At the recent Google Android Show, the company unveiled the concept of “Google Book” – entirely new laptops that will replace traditional Chromebooks with more functional devices. The official launch is planned for fall 2026, but several key points can already be highlighted.

What it looks like
Platform
Based on the Android stack, but with its own OS reimagined as “something between Android and ChromeOS.” In leaks it was sometimes called *Aluminium OS*, though Google has not yet disclosed an official name.

App support
The laptop can run the Chrome browser and any apps from Play Market, as well as directly access smartphone files and even launch Android apps right from the laptop screen – convenient for work without switching devices.

Artificial intelligence
Gemini Intelligence technology is built into all system components, including the mouse cursor. This allows the system to anticipate user actions and automatically suggest options.

Magic Pointer
A new contextual hint feature: when you “shake” the cursor and hover over an object, quick commands appear – for example, scheduling a meeting from a date in an email or selecting furniture for interior visualization.

AI widgets
The laptop will feature widgets similar to those already available on Android smartphones and Wear OS: flight information, hotel bookings, table reservations, countdown timers for family events.

Manufacturing partners
Google announced collaborations with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to produce the first models. So far, the company has shown only a few renders of the device without specific technical details or pricing.

Backlit lid
Examples show a backlit lid in Google’s signature colors; it is unclear whether this will become standard for all models.
