Insiders claim that the release of a new Fable may be delayed or not happen in 2026 due to GTA VI.
New “Fable” from Playground Games Could Be Delayed Until 2027
The British studio Playground Games (known for the Forza Horizon series) is preparing a fantasy action‑role‑playing game, Fable, which is expected to become one of Microsoft’s key releases in 2026. However, the internal team is already considering postponing its launch date.
> “If *Fable* comes out after GTA VI, that could mean a December release. That, in turn, would make the game a prime candidate for a shift to 2027,” explained Jeff Grabb, co‑owner of the Giant Bomb portal.
Current status – Official date: scheduled for fall 2026 (no exact date yet).
- Competing releases: GTA VI from Rockstar Games is also slated for November 19 of that same year.
Playground Games has not announced a specific month yet, but the team remains confident about releasing *Fable* in 2026 and is actively working to avoid competition with GTA VI.
What’s new in the game – Franchise reboot: the first trailer was released almost three years after the 2020 announcement.
- Setting: the fantasy land of Albion, where heroes have long been absent; players must fill this vacant niche and reshape the world.
- Platforms: PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PS5, Xbox Series X/S.
- Key features:
- character editor,
- extensive customization options,
- consequences of player decisions,
- reputation system,
- numerous eccentric NPCs and dark humor.
If *Fable* is indeed pushed to December, that could be a reason to move the project to 2027. For now, Microsoft keeps its plan for fall 2026, but players should be prepared for potential release schedule changes.
