Kioxia launches UFS 5.0 sample deliveries for customers
The company Kioxia announced the start of shipments of embedded flash memory standard UFS 5.0 to potential buyers. The new standard, developed by JEDEC, is intended as a solution to the speed and efficiency requirements of next‑generation mobile devices – from flagship smartphones to gadgets with integrated AI features.
Technical specifications
The read/write interface implements MIPI M‑PHY 6.0 + UniPro 3.0. New HS‑GEAR 6 mode (up to 46.6 Gb/s per lane). Throughput – with two lanes, about 10.8 GB/s read/write.
What’s included in the sample kit
* In‑house developed controller – UFS 5.0 compatible.
* Kioxia BiCS FLASH 8th generation flash memory:
• Capacities: 512 GB and 1 TB.
* Chip dimensions – new size 7.5 × 13 mm, which eases board placement and increases design flexibility.
Who the samples are for
Clients developing host systems with UFS 5.0 support can obtain these samples to:
* Evaluate performance – test real read/write speeds.
* Test compatibility – integrate into their own platforms and identify potential issues.
Thus, Kioxia provides a complete set of tools necessary for rapid and reliable development of next‑generation devices based on UFS 5.0.
