Lamborghini is pulling out of electric cars due to low demand

With the arrival of the era of powerful electric supercars, traditional manufacturers of classic models found themselves in a difficult position: the new ones offer comparable performance at significantly lower prices. In this situation, the legendary Italian brand Lamborghini first announced its readiness to launch its first fully electric supercar by 2029, but now cancels those plans due to low consumer interest.

Why “Lanzador” won’t appear
* According to *The Sunday Times*, information about changes in the company’s strategy became known through a statement from CEO and board chair Stephen Winkelmann.

* He admitted that Lamborghini’s potential audience shows a “near-zero” interest in purely electric sports cars.

* Based on this, at the end of last year the company decided to abandon the Lanzador project – a fully electric supercar.

Winkelmann emphasized that electric vehicles do not create the emotional connection with the owner that is characteristic of internal‑combustion engine supercars. The noise and sense of “liveliness” of the engine remain important factors in this niche.

The path to hybrids
* Instead of Lanzador, Lamborghini plans to release hybrid models with the ability to recharge the battery from the grid.

* By the end of this decade, the entire brand’s lineup will be hybrid, but internal‑combustion engines will continue to be produced as long as the market requires them.

The company head noted that in the future a purely electric sports car under the Lamborghini marque may appear, but only if the right moment comes and demand justifies it.
