Microsoft is testing a highlight recording feature on the portable console Asus ROG Xbox Ally X

*What’s happening:*

Within the Xbox Insider program, Microsoft is testing a new feature – *Highlight Reels*, specifically designed for the portable gaming console Asus ROG Xbox Ally X.

*Technology:*

The console is built around Ryzen AI Z2 processors that include a neural processor (NPU). It provides the functionality without any additional downloads – everything works “out of the box” thanks to built‑in AI.

*How it works:*

Highlight Reels automatically identifies the brightest and most dynamic moments in gameplay, creates short clips from them, and compiles them into one video ready for sharing with friends. The capture process is based on Windows background recording, so even while playing the system can “cut” interesting scenes.

*Device support:*

The feature is available only on the newer version of the console – ROG Xbox Ally X. It is not available on the older model (ROG Xbox Ally).

*Supported games:*

Currently supported titles are limited to:

- *Among Us*
- *Lies of P*
- *Elden Ring*
- *Overwatch*
- *Fortnite*
- *Palworld*
- *Forza Horizon 5*

*How to enable and use it:*

1. Enable background recording in Windows settings.
2. Launch one of the supported games via Xbox Game Bar, Windows settings, or Gaming Copilot.
3. After the session ends, Highlight Reels will automatically create a video that appears in the “Game Highlights (preview)” section of the Xbox app for PC.

*Feedback:*

Insider participants are encouraged to leave feedback through the Xbox Insider Hub and the comment system within the app.

Thus, Microsoft is testing an innovative way to share gaming achievements effortlessly by leveraging the neural processor capabilities on the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X.
