Microsoft reintroduces taskbar repositioning in Windows 11

To delight users, sometimes all it takes is to remove something and then bring it back. This year Microsoft plans to “make users happy” for hundreds of millions of Windows 11 owners by once again enabling the taskbar to be moved and resized – features that have existed in every version of Windows since 1995.

What’s changing?
* Placement

The taskbar can now be positioned on the left, right, or top of the screen.

* Size

Users will be able to adjust the width (or height) of the taskbar, just as they could in earlier Microsoft operating systems.

Microsoft is already working on these improvements, and they are slated to appear in the summer update of Windows 11. The development team has given this project a high priority, so the release should not be delayed.

Why it matters
Windows 11 faced criticism for its limited interface customization options. Restoring familiar features is one of Microsoft’s steps toward rebuilding user trust and demonstrating that the company listens to feedback from both everyday end users and system administrators.

In addition, this year the company continues to tackle other key issues: improving overall system performance, fixing File Explorer bugs, and addressing other concerns that have troubled users over the past two years.

Thus, bringing back the taskbar is part of a broader strategy to increase satisfaction among Windows 11 users.
