Microsoft will end support for Outlook Lite in the coming month
Microsoft is ending support for Outlook Lite
In May 2024 Microsoft announced the end of support for the mobile app Outlook Lite. The app, which launched in 2022, was designed for low‑resource smartphones and regions with slow internet.
- End‑of‑service date: May 26, 2024.
- Decision history: In October 2023 the company already warned users that Outlook Lite would be removed from Google Play. The exact shutdown date is now known.
What this means for users
After May 26 the app will stop functioning. To continue using secure and fully featured mail, Microsoft recommends switching to Outlook Mobile – the official mobile app with a full set of features.
- Outlook Lite users can only regain access to emails, calendar, and attachments after installing Outlook Mobile.
- When attempting to open the outdated app, the system will automatically redirect the user to Google Play to download the current version of Outlook.
Thus all Outlook Lite users must upgrade to Outlook Mobile by the specified date to avoid losing access to their mail and calendar.
