Vice‑President of Microsoft Rajesh Jha Announces Retirement

Rajesh Jha, vice‑president and head of the *Experience and Devices* division, announced that after more than 35 years with the company he will step down. His career included key projects: moving the Office suite to the cloud and subsequently leading Microsoft 365, Copilot, Windows, and Office products.

> “After more than 35 years at Microsoft I am retiring. I will leave my position on July 1, after which I will remain in an advisory role,” Jha wrote in a letter to employees.

How Leadership Transition Will Be Structured
Microsoft will not appoint a direct successor for the VP role. Instead, four of his subordinates will be promoted to executive vice‑president level and report directly to CEO Satya Nadella:

> “Rajesh has been a constant pillar throughout my career at Microsoft… He is among the leaders who shaped the company. We will continue to move forward, building on his foundation,” Satya Nadella commented.

Context of Recent Restructuring
Jha’s departure comes amid recent changes in Microsoft’s structure:

- LinkedIn: Ryan Roslansky was promoted to head of Office last year.
- Windows: Pavan Davuluri took over the Windows and Devices team also last year.
- Major business units: Judson Althoff now oversees their management, allowing Nadella to focus more on technical matters.

Thus, Jha’s retirement not only marks the end of an era but also paves the way for new leaders in Microsoft’s key divisions.
