MSI unveiled the budget motherboard MAG B850M Gaming Pro Max WIFI with new overclocking features and support for PCIe 5.0 x16
MSI expanded its Socket AM5 motherboard lineup
MSI has unveiled a new Micro‑ATX platform – the MAG B850M Gaming Pro Max WIFI, designed for Ryzen 7000-, 8000- and 9000-series processors. The board supports up to four DDR5 modules, allowing a system with memory capacity up to 256 GB. The maximum operating frequency of the RAM is 8200 MT/s (when overclocked).
Key features
MSI OC Engine – a special chip that provides independent control of the CPU base clock in BIOS. It allows fine-tuning of processor parameters without risking instability of memory, PCIe and NVMe. Internal tests show up to a 15 % performance boost in games (using Ryzen 7 9800X3D).
VRM system – an 11‑phase design (8 + 2 + 1) with 60 A per phase. EPS 8‑pin and 4‑pin connectors are provided for CPU power.
PCIe support – PCIe 5.0 x16 for the graphics card (unlike the 4.0 in the predecessor). Additionally, one PCIe 4.0 x4 slot and two M.2 slots: one PCIe 5.0 x4 and one PCIe 4.0 x4.
Storage – one PCIe 4.0 x2 M.2 slot, four SATA III ports (6 Gb/s).
Networking – 5‑Gb Ethernet controller Realtek, Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 (instead of Wi‑Fi 6E in the previous model).
Other features – 64 MB BIOS‑ROM, EZ PCIe Release for quick GPU removal, EZ M.2 Shield Frozr II cooling system for NVMe drives, and a pre-installed rear I/O panel.
Thus, the new MAG B850M Gaming Pro Max WIFI combines higher PCIe bandwidth, improved networking modules and an expanded overclocking feature set while remaining a compact Micro‑ATX board for Ryzen AM5 gaming systems.
