Nvidia is reducing the supply of Jetson platforms with LPDDR4 due to memory shortages

NVIDIA is discontinuing its Jetson Xavier and TX2 platforms that use LPDDR4 memory.

Why NVIDIA is forced to act this way
1. LPDDR4 shortage

Memory manufacturers are dropping LPDDR4 production because DDR5 and HBM are more demanded. This makes producing old modules unprofitable.

2. Transition to new technologies

NVIDIA must move to newer platforms with more modern chips: Orin NX and AGX Orin. This may require minor adjustments in power supply and cooling.

- Jetson Xavier and TX2 will be available only until July 1, 2024, and the last batch will ship on July 15, 2025.
- Developers can switch to new Orin models, but should consider possible changes in power and thermal requirements.
