Nvidia will speed up game launches—auto‑compilation of ASC shaders has been added to the Nvidia App
New Nvidia Feature – Automatic Shader Compilation (ASC)
Within the updated Nvidia App, the company announced the release of the beta version of ASC—a tool that automatically compiles DirectX 12 shaders from games. This happens in the background: when the system is idle or performing heavy graphics tasks.
What does it do?
* Reduces load times – shaders are prepped ahead of time, so there’s no need to wait for full compilation at game launch.
* Decreases stutter – if shaders load “on the fly,” delays can occur. ASC prevents this by preparing everything in advance.
How to enable it?
1. Open Nvidia App.
2. Go to Graphics → Global Settings → Shader Cache and toggle ASC (optional).
System Requirements
* Cache folder – the user must allocate disk space for storage.
* Driver – GeForce Game Ready Driver 595.97 WHQL or newer is required.
How compilation works?
* The app has a “Compile Now” button that immediately starts pre-building all game shaders.
* If you don’t press the button, ASC runs automatically in standby mode.
* By default, it uses a medium resource usage level; users can adjust this as they wish.
* The app displays the date of the last compilation.
When does ASC run?
ASC activates after the game loads and after installing the updated driver to ensure optimal performance.
What’s next?
Additional improvements and optimizations are planned for the coming weeks following the completion of beta testing.
