OpenAI launches “Library” – a new cloud storage for ChatGPT

How it works
New feature
Users can store personal files and images in a special folder called *ChatGPT Library*.
Who can use it
Subscribers of the Plus, Pro, and Business plans. The feature is available worldwide except in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and EEA countries.
Where to see it
In the sidebar of the web version of ChatGPT, a *Library* section appears. It automatically shows files you previously uploaded to chat.

How it works

1. Automatic saving

Any file sent in a conversation is stored in secure storage and can be used as reference material in future dialogues.

2. Images

Bot-generated images appear in the “Gallery” tab of the sidebar.

3. Interacting with files

* Add a file to chat: simply select it from Library, and the AI can immediately analyze its content or use it as context.
* Delete a file: a trash icon appears next to each item. After deletion, the file remains on OpenAI servers for another 30 days (possibly due to legal requirements).

Takeaways
* Convenience – now you can keep all necessary documents in one place and quickly attach them to a conversation.
* Security – files are stored securely and accessible only to you.
* Flexibility – the ability to delete and retain files for 30 days after deletion provides an extra layer of data control.

Thus, OpenAI expands ChatGPT’s functionality, making interaction with personal materials simpler and more structured.
