Samsung Opens Doors for Third-Party AI Solutions

Apple continues working on its own voice assistant—Siri—while Samsung Electronics is doing the opposite: actively inviting external developers into its ecosystem. As Te Mun Ro (TM Roh), head of the consumer electronics division, reported, the list of partners keeps growing.

1. What the Leader Says
- Strategic Collaboration: Samsung is ready to work with many AI groups, including OpenAI and Perplexity AI.
- New Search Engine: Perplexity AI is already available in Samsung’s mobile OS.
- Consumer Preferences: Sociological studies show that users are increasingly using multiple AI services simultaneously rather than a single platform.

> “We started working earlier than others and maintain leadership in mobile AI,” says Te Mun Ro.

2. Why It Matters
- Declining Smartphone Sales: Falling volumes due to memory shortages and rising prices make AI features a key factor in attracting buyers.
- New Features in the Galaxy S26: The new device now allows invoking Perplexity AI with the phrase “Hey Plex.” Google Gemini is already integrated, and users can hail a taxi without extra steps.

> “Consumers are not tied to one AI platform. We’re open to all solutions, and that choice makes Galaxy AI attractive,” added Te Mun Ro.

3. Competitive Context
- Apple also collaborates with Google and OpenAI but plans to launch an updated voice assistant Siri this year.
- Samsung sees a diversity of AI solutions as a competitive advantage over Apple, which has yet to implement all its announced features.

Thus, Samsung is betting on flexibility and openness: the broader the range of available AI tools, the stronger its position in the mobile device market.
