Some Xiaomi phones can now transfer files to an iPhone via AirDrop

Xiaomi expands Quick Share capabilities: AirDrop is now available

The Chinese manufacturer announced the addition of Apple AirDrop protocol support to its Quick Share file transfer system, which runs on smartphones with HyperOS 3. With the update, Xiaomi devices can exchange files and contacts directly with Apple gadgets via wireless connection.

What’s new?
- AirDrop support is integrated into Quick Share, allowing Android devices to send data to iPhones without extra settings.
- The feature is already available in X (formerly known as Twitter). As an example, the new flagship Xiaomi 17T Pro is mentioned, but the update will also roll out to other HyperOS 3 phones if there are no hardware limitations. A full list of devices has not yet been disclosed.

How it works?
1. On an iPhone, the user opens a profile in “Everyone” mode (visibility enabled for 10 minutes).
2. Quick Share detects the iOS device and initiates the transfer.
3. The recipient does not need to be on the contact list; proper visibility settings on the Apple side are sufficient.

Why it matters?
Android users have long faced restrictions when sharing files via Bluetooth with Apple devices. New AirDrop support removes this barrier, making file transfers faster and more convenient.

Where else is a similar feature available?
AirDrop support in Quick Share is not limited to Xiaomi; it’s also present on smartphones from other brands: Samsung, Oppo Find X9 Ultra, and Vivo X300 Ultra.
