Sony may abandon porting “classic” exclusives to PC
Covering news about new releases, gamers barely had time to enjoy streams of single-player games that were previously available only on PlayStation. According to recent rumors, Sony plans to change its porting policy.

What Bloomberg says
Blogger and reporter Jason Schreier, host of Bloomberg’s Triple Click podcast, expressed doubt that a PC version of Insomniac Games’ “Marvel’s Wolverine” will ever appear, despite an existing prototype. He added:

> “I wouldn’t be surprised if it never comes to PC. And if it does, you’ll have a clear idea of the game and what you need for its launch in an indefinitely long future: PlayStation.”

Schreier explains this by saying that the “PlayStation strategy” is now focused on service games (subscription, cross‑platform projects), and that “traditional single-player console exclusives” will stop being ported. On the ResetEra forum, a journalist clarified that this is not just speculation.

Why it’s happening
The main reason for the shift, according to Schreier, is the low commercial effectiveness of PC versions of Sony exclusives:

> “I don’t think they were [commercially] successful. I don’t know. It doesn’t seem like it would be a big blow for the company.”

Thus, the company sees less benefit in porting old games and is refocusing on new formats.

What’s already confirmed
Despite these statements, Sony recently announced release dates for several projects on PC at its State of Play, including “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.” However, these games are being developed not by internal PlayStation studios but by third‑party partners.

History of porting
Sony began mass porting its exclusives in 2020, usually with a delay of several years after the original release. As a result, PC gamers gained access to franchises such as “The Last of Us,” “Marvel’s Spider‑Man,” “Horizon,” and “God of War.”

So while Sony continues to release some exclusives for PC, it is clearly reevaluating its approach to porting classic single-player games. This could signal the end of the era of “PlayStation exclusives” on personal computers.
