Starlink Raises Rates in the U.S. and Abroad

SpaceX announced an increase in the cost of its Residential and Roam services, as well as a new price for Standby Mode.

The new rates range from $5 to $10 depending on the specific plan.

- United States: changes are already visible on the official website; new customers are signing up at the updated prices.
- Australia and Canada: similar hikes have taken effect for local subscribers.

Rates that did not change

- Roam 300 GB remains at $80 per month.
- Existing subscribers will see the new prices apply from June 18 (or later), as stated in Starlink’s email.

Why the hike?

Starlink explains that the Residential rate had not changed since 2023, but that year it rose to $120 for some users. The operator emphasizes that high demand confirms the service’s value and allows continued improvements and investments in faster products. SpaceX plans to launch gigabit speeds on next‑generation satellites.

Customer reaction

Many subscribers have already expressed dissatisfaction:

- Standby Mode, which lets you pause the service without breaking the contract, is now twice as expensive.
- Some users are considering returning the “Starlink Mini” compact antennas provided under a free‑rent program. In the U.S., those devices work only with Roam or Standby plans.

Additional changes

The company recently lowered prices for Local Priority business plans, but this does not negate the overall trend of rising costs for end users.
