Steam Deck will only become available for purchase intermittently again—Valve explained that this is the reason the items disappeared.
Valve Responds to Steam Deck Unavailability in the U.S.
Valve has finally reacted to reports that the portable Steam Deck console is not being sold in the American store. Updated information appeared on the company’s official website: the OLED‑screen version may occasionally be out of stock due to shortages of RAM and storage drives.
Supply Issue
A few days ago, the console was already unavailable for purchase both in the U.S. and other countries. Last week, all three available Steam Deck models displayed a “out of stock” notice on the online store, with no restoration dates specified.
Connection to New Device Delays
Valve’s announcement came shortly after the planned early‑2026 release of Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller devices was postponed for the same reason. In a statement published at the beginning of the month, the company noted:
“We have work ahead of us to determine exact prices and launch dates that we can confidently announce, given how quickly circumstances affecting these factors can change.”
2026 Plans
Valve still intends to release new devices in the first half of 2026. The website also states that the company has ceased production of the Steam Deck with an LCD screen and a 256 GB storage drive—information that had surfaced at the end of last year.
