Steam-Machine will appear at the end of June, but Valve has not yet determined an exact date and price.
Valve continues plans to release Steam‑Machine, Steam Frame and Steam Controller
The company Valve has officially confirmed that all three devices will be available in the first half of 2026. However, exact launch dates and prices have not yet been disclosed – the reason is the ongoing shortage of RAM and storage (DRAM and NAND flash).
> “When we announced the new products in November, we expected to be able to provide concrete information about pricing and dates by now. Since then, the situation with memory and component shortages has only worsened. Due to limited availability of these critical components and their rising costs, we have had to revise prices and delivery schedules, especially for Steam Machine and Steam Frame,” the FAQ on the Steam website states.
Key points
Current status | Steam‑Machine | Planned for the first half of 2026. Estimated price reflects component cost rather than a “console” pricing model.
| Steam Frame | Also scheduled for the first half of 2026. Exact dates and prices remain unknown due to memory shortages.
| Steam Controller | Work is underway; date and price are still undefined, but expected within the same timeframe.
Valve emphasized that the company’s goal remains unchanged – “to launch all three new products in the first half of this year.” The team is working on final dates and pricing taking into account rapidly changing circumstances and promises to keep users updated as plans are refined.
Why the price of Steam‑Machine matters
In November, the estimate was $500–600 USD for a model with an integrated 512 GB drive. Since then component prices have risen sharply, so the final cost will be closer to actual component prices. Valve said the product will be positioned as a PC rather than a “console” to avoid losses from content price differences.
Thus, although exact figures are not yet available, Valve remains committed to launching all three devices in 2026 and continues to adjust plans for the current supply situation.
