The Galaxy S26 model base exceeded expectations in popularity at Samsung
Samsung boosts Galaxy S26 production due to unexpected demand
ZDNet Korea reports that sales of the new Galaxy S26 smartphone lineup have exceeded even the company’s boldest expectations. In response, Samsung accelerated production.
Model Plan in April (before) Plan in April (after)
Galaxy S26 (base) 800 000 1 300 000 (+500 000)
Galaxy S26 Plus –100 000 (reduction)
Galaxy S26 Ultra 1 500 000 (+200 000)
As a result, the monthly production plan for the entire series rose to 3 million units, which is 25 % higher than the initial 2.4 million. The most popular variant is the S26 Ultra, accounting for 60 %–70 % of total demand. Now, out of every three phones released, two are Ultra.
What attracts buyers
* Galaxy S26: high performance at a moderate price and a compact screen.
* Galaxy S26 Ultra: in addition to powerful specs, it features the unique *Privacy Display*, which blurs the screen, making the image invisible to onlookers. This is the first instance of privacy protection technology integrated directly into the display.
Shift toward the premium segment
Since S26 production increased, Samsung reduced output of budget models in the A series:
Model Plan before cut Plan after cut
Galaxy A57 800 000 1 600 000
Galaxy A17 400 000 3 900 000
According to Android Authority, rising memory chip prices make it difficult to maintain affordable prices for these inexpensive phones.
Thus, Samsung is focusing its efforts on more expensive S26 models, meeting growing demand while simultaneously adjusting the A lineup toward resource conservation.
