New Sony Xperia 1 VIII renders are already online

Recently images of the future Sony Xperia 1 VIII smartphone appeared on the internet. According to insider OnLeaks and MyMobiles.com, these pictures are based on factory CAD data used by Sony suppliers, not guesses from third‑party developers. Moreover, the authors claim that the presented design is final.

What the new Xperia 1 VIII looks like
* Smooth evolution

The renders show that the model continues the predecessor’s traditions rather than completely reimagining it. The front panel retains a tall, narrow OLED screen (6.5 inches) with a front camera in the upper bezel next to the speaker. Previously a punch‑hole was expected – now that is not the case.

* Dimensions

The body is slightly larger: 161.9 × 74.4 × 8.58 mm. The square camera block increases overall thickness to 11.37 mm (more than 2 mm thicker than the Xperia 1 VII). This space is likely allocated for a larger sensor, an expanded camera module, or a bigger battery.

* Camera module

Instead of a vertical strip on the VII model, the new phone features a square “island” that houses three cameras, a flash, and additional sensors. The module protrudes 2.79 mm above the body (compared to ~1.1 mm in the previous version).

* Camera

It is expected that the module will include larger sensors, including a telephoto lens from 1/3″ to 1/2″. This should improve photo quality and expand photography capabilities.

What’s next?
