The new option in Google Play allows searching within user reviews
Google added review search in the Google Play Store
The new feature lets users quickly find relevant information among thousands of app comments, saving time.
What changed
1. Where to look?
- Open an app in the Play Store.
- Tap the rating at the top of the page → “See all reviews.”
- Scroll down to the *“Reviews and ratings”* section.
- Under the brief AI-generated summary, a magnifying glass icon appears.
2. How to use it?
- Tapping the magnifier takes you to the top of the screen with a search bar.
- Enter a phrase (not just one word) of keywords about the app’s features or issues and press “Enter.”
- A list of reviews containing the specified words will appear.
3. Limitations
- Search works only after entering several words; a single word does not trigger it.
- Reviews update only after the search completes – they are not filtered in real time.
- Suggestions under the bar appear only for popular topics.
4. Requirements
- To use the new feature, the Play Store app must be updated to version 50.7.24‑31.
History of appearance
Android Authority reported in November last year that Google was testing a similar function, but it had not been activated at the time. Recently the company confirmed that the new feature is already included in the latest Play Store update.
