The Nvidia 595.71 WHQL driver prevents manual overclocking of the GeForce RTX‑series at 50°.
New Nvidia GeForce Game Ready Driver 595.71 WHQL: Fixes and New Issues
Nvidia released a driver update—Game Ready 595.71 WHQL—which was supposed to fix bugs from the previous version (595.59 WHQL). However, after installation many users noticed new limitations.
What Changed
* Core voltage limit – it is now fixed in the range of 0.95–0.96 V.
* GPU frequency reduction – the maximum frequency is locked at about 3 GHz (2955‑2985 MHz), even with manual overclocking.
User Reports
Platform Description of Problem
MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Suprim X In a FurMark test with driver 591.86 WHQL and manual overclock, voltage was 1.02–1.03 V, frequency 3015‑3030 MHz. After updating to 595.71 WHQL the voltage dropped to 1.00–1.01 V, and the frequency fell below 3 GHz.
MSI GeForce RTX 5080 Vanguard With settings +100 % overvolt, +11 % power limit, +360 MHz core boost, and +3000 MHz memory boost, the maximum frequency dropped from 3230 MHz (1.03 V) to 3000 MHz (0.95 V). The user noted that when reaching the 3000 MHz threshold the card lowers voltage instead of further overclocking.
Other GeForce RTX 50‑series cards Complaints about HDR issues, screen refresh rate changes, black screens and driver crashes (timeout), as well as unstable Vulkan performance in some games.
What Nvidia Says
The description for version 595.71 lists bug fixes related to fan speed monitoring and overall driver operation. There is no mention of voltage setting changes or the Boost feature.
Conclusion:
The new 595.71 WHQL driver removed some bugs from the previous version but introduced overclocking limits on GeForce RTX 50‑series cards and brought new graphics and performance issues. Users who actively use manual overclocking may experience a noticeable drop in frequency and voltage.
