The speedrunner discovered a secret in *Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune* that had been unknown to games for almost two decades
Found “year‑old” Easter egg from Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
The American studio Naughty Dog released its first cinematic adventure action game, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, in 2007, but it still keeps several hidden elements away from players.
Recently speedrunner Panzerdeer published a video review and explained how, while exploring the game's back panels through the debug menu, he stumbled upon a secret left by developers almost two decades ago.
Where is the Easter egg? The secret is located in the “Uninvited Guests” chapter (later Chapter 19) outside the game world. Between two large black cubes you can see a long inscription stretched across the sky: photographs of Naughty Dog employees.
In each frame 16 team members hold signs with humorous nicknames – this is a “photo under arrest.” Similar images were previously posted on the studio’s official website.
The Easter egg exists both in the original PS3 version and in the remaster for PS4, so its presence in the game is not accidental. However, given the placement of the photos, it was likely intended exclusively for the internal audience of developers.
> “It’s cool to see Naughty Dog inserting such details into their games… If no one has found this secret yet, then it must have been hidden for almost 20 years – pure madness,” noted Panzerdeer.
What next? Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and the two other parts of the original trilogy remain PlayStation exclusives. While Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy also released on PC, they do not contain the Easter egg from the first game.
Thus, the discovered secret reminds players of Naughty Dog’s rich development history and underscores their attention to detail even years after release.
