Toyota has brought in a family of humanoid robots, the Agility Digit, for RAV4 production
Brief news update
* Toyota in Canada is using humanoid robots Digit – seven of these machines are now permanently working on the RAV4 crossover assembly line.
* Earlier, Toyota tested them for almost a year, and now they take on tasks such as unloading component containers from automated carts that circulate around the plant.
* Agility Robotics – the manufacturer of Digit – already supplies robots to several logistics operators, including Amazon. Their cloud service Arc allows remote robot management.
* According to Agility representatives, integrating robots into a client’s infrastructure often costs more than purchasing them, so it is important to use AI to optimize processes.
What’s next?
* TSMC plans to deploy Digit on its semiconductor fabrication plants. Here the robots will perform less critical operations.
* Agility is developing the next model of humanoid robot focused on safer interaction with people in tight workspaces.
* Many automakers are already testing similar solutions; among them, Chinese companies are especially active.
Thus, humanoid robots are becoming a standard element of production lines, and their role expands through improved logistics and safety.
