New Quick Language Selection Feature in Google Translate
In the latest beta version of Google Translate, a feature has been added that makes switching between languages more convenient. Android Authority discovered it in build 10.8.48.878519627.2‑release – a reference to the “Pinned languages” section.
What Changed
* Manually Pin Languages
Users can now add up to ten of their most frequently used languages to the top of the screen. These languages will always be visible, even if they don’t appear in the “Recently Used” list.
* A New Section Appears
The interface includes a separate block for pinned languages, positioned above the “Recently Added Languages” list. This way, the needed languages are within easy reach without extra searching.
How It Works
1. Open the full language list.
2. Swipe right on the desired language and tap the pushpin icon – the language will be pinned.
3. To remove a language from the list, perform the same actions; instead of the pin, an “Unpin” button appears.
Why It’s Useful
* Time Savings – users no longer waste extra clicks searching for the right language.
* Convenience While Traveling – during live conversations, such as on a trip, you can quickly switch between pinned languages.
The feature is currently in closed testing, and there is no official release date for the general public yet.
