Valve will soon allow attaching PC information to reviews, and this is already exciting players
New Steam Features Will Help Players Objectively Assess Performance
Steam users frequently complain in reviews, but until recently it was nearly impossible to verify those claims. With the change that appeared overnight on February 13, the situation is changing.
What’s new?
- Attaching a configuration to a review
The beta version of Steam added an “Add PC data” button in the reviews section. The feature works only if the user has hardware information pinned to their profile. You can save multiple sets of configurations – handy when you log into Steam from different devices or switch computers.
- Discussions on Reddit
Forum participants noted that the new feature is especially useful for those who complain about weak PCs. Owners of powerful systems usually don’t notice the same problems and can now see reviews relevant to their hardware.
- Future improvements
Developers plan to add sorting of reviews by similar configurations so users immediately see the most useful information for their equipment.
Additional functionality
The same update includes optional collection of anonymous frame‑rate data. This data is tied to the hardware, not the account. At present the feature targets SteamOS devices, but Valve intends to use it in the future for game compatibility analysis and improving Steam’s performance.
Thus, the new features will allow users to receive more accurate performance assessments and help developers quickly identify and fix compatibility issues.
