WhatsApp now also can send the chat history to new members of group chats, just like Telegram does
WhatsApp now can “immerse” new participants in a conversation
The messenger’s developers have added the ability to forward message history within group chats. With this feature, administrators and members can quickly send new members the latest messages so they immediately understand the discussion context—functionality already familiar to Telegram users.
How it works
* When inviting a new user to a group, you can choose how many messages (25, 50, 75, or 100) will be automatically sent to them.
* The forwarded messages are protected by end‑to‑end encryption, just like all other correspondence, so they can be shared without needing screenshots or manually copying each text.
* After forwarding, the recipient sees only the recent part of the chat; older messages remain hidden.
Managing the feature
Administrators can enable and disable this option in group settings, but even when disabled they always have the ability to manually send message history. When forwarding, participants see a notification indicating the time of transfer and the sender’s name.
Where is it available?
The feature is being rolled out gradually across different WhatsApp versions, so soon it will become a standard tool for all group chats on the platform.
