X will offer a feature to hide key moments in tweet threads to attract paid subscribers
X launches a new feature for subscribers
As part of the “Creator Subscriptions 2.0” strategy, social network X introduced another platform improvement—now authors can make part of their publication threads visible only to users who pay for access.
The feature is called “Exclusive Threads.” The irony in the name: X’s main competitor in the microblogging segment is the Threads app, which works with Instagram and belongs to Meta. As Meta evolves, competition between these platforms becomes increasingly intense.
How it works—An author can announce a publication that is available only to subscribers.
- Regular users who try to open such a thread will see a button inviting them to subscribe for paid access.
- This interface is considered enough of an incentive to switch to payment.
The goal: X actively attracts well-known bloggers and expands monetization options. Among the new tools is the ability to mark posts as “paid partnerships,” signaling sponsorship support from advertisers.
